Rolex Cellini

The Rolex Cellini luxury watch name was chosen in reference to Benvenuto Cellini, an Italian
Renaissance artist who was a sculptor and goldsmith. These refined and elegant watches offer modern
timekeeping features while showing off classic aesthetics. Because of this modern and classic
combination, the Rolex Cellini is a luxury watch that stands the test of time.

History of the Rolex Cellini

Rolex Cellini watches had their introduction prior to World War II. The first Rolex Cellini model, the Rolex
Prince, was introduced in 1928. With its distinctive rectangular case and elegant lines, the Rolex Prince
caught the eye of many watch aficionados. The popularity continued throughout the decades that
followed until it was discontinued in the 1950s. But this wasn’t the last time Rolex lovers would see the
Rolex Cellini Prince appear.

In 2005, the brand re-launched the Rolex Prince in keeping with the updated Rolex Cellini collection. The
updated version of the Rolex Cellini Prince had a manual wind calibre 7040 movement plus watch
purchasers could choose from 18k white gold, 18k rose gold, and 18k yellow gold material options.

Although the Rolex Cellini was introduced in 1928, it wasn’t until the 1960s that the brand really started
to build upon this collection. The Rolex Cellini began to be marketed under a purpose-driven method
put into motion by the brand in the decade prior. This watch collection was labeled as an elegant dress
watch.

The dedicated line of Rolex Cellini watches was the tuxedo watch of the brand, worn for those dressier
occasions. Throughout the years of production, the Rolex Cellini didn’t fit one aesthetic mold. The 1960s
produced a Rolex Cellini that had angular and bold designs while during the 1970s this watch model was
vintage and cushion shaped. And in the years that followed, there were no set rules on how the Rolex
Cellini designs would unfold. In fact, watches with smaller cases were produced that were like the
watches of the 1930s which offered a vintage vibe for Rolex Cellini wearers.

When the year 2000 rolled around, Rolex re-introduced its first Cellini, the Rolex Cellini Prince, with its
rectangular case and antique design. The Rolex Cellini was set apart from other Rolex collections
because it didn’t follow one design but dabbled in quite a few throughout its production years.

The year 2014 saw a more modern Rolex Cellini emerge. The brand introduced three new models for the
Cellini collection, including the Rolex Cellini Time (Reference 50505 and Reference 50509), the Cellini
Dual Time (Reference 50525 and Reference 50529), and the Cellini Date (Reference 50515 and
Reference 50519). All these models were offered in white gold and Everose gold and included a choice
of a white or black lacquer dial. They feature a 38mm case, polished finish double bezel, flared screw-
down winding crown, domed sapphire crystal, and water resistance level of 50m. The Rolex Cellini
models are powered by a self-winding mechanical movement.

In 2017, the Rolex Cellini Moonphase was released. This model was the first moonphase complication
Rolex since the 1950s. The Rolex Cellini Moonphase combines classic style with modern features,
providing the best of both worlds for Rolex watch collectors to enjoy.

It doesn’t matter what Rolex Cellini you choose to put on your wrist, the result is an elegant and classy
